Technical Background

I have nearly thirty years experience in the field of Information Technology. I started My career as a Computer Operator at the State of Ohio Data Center in 1981. Since that time I have performed in the capacities of Customer Support, Problem and Change Management, Project Management, Technical Support, Application Developer, Technical Lead, and Technical Trainer.

Having more than fifteen years experience in application development, and as a certified Microsoft Application Developer (MCAD - ASP.NET Web Developer) with experience in HTML, XHTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, and MySQL as well, I understand technology first-hand.

Technical Writing

My degree in Communication, and over twenty years experience in Technical Writing as a functional skill in the business world, give me exceptional insight into relating technical concepts on many levels. I have written extensive procedural documentation, software documentation, user manuals, and training materials, as well as overview summaries for management. My writing skills are finely honed. I have worked as a liason between developers and clients in a variety of situations to help them resolve misunderstandings and gain a greater grasp of technical and customer issues.

Technical Training

I have the broad understanding to relate technical information to non-technical audiences without condescension. Clients have consistently commented about my ability to communicate on their level. Having been a Microsoft Certified Trainer, I have led many training courses in addition to having worked as a Technical Instructor and Mentor for a major Computer Learning Center. I have experience teaching in the classroom as well as providing one-on-one instruction.
